Mike Hildebrandt
Hildebrandt (who is also a physician) was trained classically through college at
the University of Minnesota, played in the U of M Symphony Orchestra, studied
with members of the Minnesota Orchestra, and has continued to play in various
chamber groups in southern Minnesota. In college he began playing other styles of
fiddle music as well, and became a member of the innovative Twin Cities' folk music
scene in the 1970's. He has continued those associations locally, state-wide, and nationally.
He currently lives in Faribault, Minnesota, where for the last 26 years he has
been practicing medicine, raising his family, and continuing to write original fiddle
music and perform with a variety of groups, especially his long time friends in "The
Over and Back Band."
In 2007 Mike was inducted into the Minnesota Rock/Country Music Hall of
Fame as a member of one of Minnesota's first bluegrass bands, "The Platte Valley
Boys," who he continues to perform with on occasion.
